Menaggio is located s on the western shores of Lake Como, about 30km north of Como and about 27km east of Lugano (Switzerland).
It is perfectly located in the centre lake region. Its central position is ideal for visiting other towns on the Lake either by boat or bus.
If you’d like to make a day trip to Switzerland, you can reach Lugano in less than an hour.

From down town Milano
From Como (about 55 min)
You can take the C10 bus from either Como Lago or Como San Giovanni train stations (€3.60). Ask the driver to stop outside the Grand Hotel Menaggio. If you are leaving from Como Lago station you need to buy the ticket at the bus station. If you are leaving from Como San Giovanni (Central Station), you need to buy the ticket at the newspaper stand or at the station bar. The last bus leaves at 8.20pm.
From Lugano (about 55 min)
From Lugano train station get the funicular to down town. Then walk about 1 mile north past the Park of Villa Ciani until you reach the CASSARATE car park in front of the Lido di Lugano Swimming Pool. In front of the Lido there is a small Kiosk (soft drinks and Sandwich vendor) where you find the tickets to Menaggio. Behind the Kiosk there is a car park called Campo Marzio. At the far end, behind the kiosk, there will be a bus stop. The bus is blue and numbered C12. Ask at the kiosk to make sure where the right stop is, in case the bus is not there.
Get off the bus in Menaggio Centro, near the little harbor with sail boats. Walk South and in two minute you will reach the traffic light at the south end of town. Continue and after just an other minute you’ll find us on the left side.

Giovanni, or Como Central Station where you arrive from Milano Centrale or Milano Porta Garibaldi or From Switzerland.
Milan Bergamo Airport (approx. 2 hrs)
Take the airport bus to Bergamo Train Station (€2.00), you can buy the ticket from a stand as you leave the airport. From the train station, take the train to Varenna. You will need to change at Lecco (2nd class €4.20) (see www.trenitalia.com for train times). At Varenna take the ferry across the lake to Menaggio (€3.60). There is an information desk behind the station where you can ask directions to the port area. The ferry take 15 mins and leaves about once an hour. The last ferry to Menaggio leaves at 7.55pm. If you miss this, there is a 9.40pm ferry to Cadenabbia, which is 3km south of the Hostel. A taxi can be arranged from here.

From Milan
Take the A8 to 'The Lakes', then take the A9 highroad to Como. After the Como toll booth, take the third exit sign posted Como Nord / Lago di Como. Go down the ramp from the motorway exit, turn left at the roundabout towards Menaggio and follow the lake north for more or less 30 Km. Before the tunnel take the small road to the right towards Menaggio. You will find us on the right side, before the traffic light.
From Venice
Take the A4 all the way to Milan, then the A8 and A9 as above.
From Malpensa Airport:
Take the A8 towards Milan, then the A9 towards Como (see above).
